Assessment and Advice Session
An assessment and advice session is a one to one session for more specific advice and support to progress your case. It is during these sessions, sitting down face to face, that the progress and direction of a case can be fully understood and steered to ensure that the outcome required is realistic and more likely to be successful.
Telephone and E-mail Support
Often during cases, proceedings matters may arise that require advice and or practical support. In particular in Family Law proceedings, a person's response to a query or matter may seem a practical, straight forward and common sense reply, but may not be seen as such by the Court or could be open to a different interpretation. At times of emotional difficulty and in dealing with processess that most people are unused to, having balanced and measured support to present your views and aims, can be invaluable in your proposals being given importance and value.
Assistance in Court / Hearings
Many people, in many areas of their life are able, effective and successful but when dealing with situations on a personal level, where emotions are at a high level, due to decisions that will have a long term impact upon them their children or their career, it can be difficult. The processes are often confusing, adversarial, and not necessarily logical to those inexperienced in the Law and or employment policies and procedures. It is also the experience of some that they do not feel listened to, or do not have explained, in terms they understand, the processes involved.
Decisions often need to be made 'on the spot' in Court. The most measured and confident of people can find themselves unable to identify the ramifications of a decision, in the longer term, in such an intense and emotional situation. Having support from an experienced person in such circumstances, who can advise as to the short and long term advantages and disadvantages of any such decision, can be invaluable.
At your request as a McKenzie Friend, I can also support you in any direct negotiations with the other parties representatives and advise on any propositions made during case discussions prior to entering the Court room.
Court and Formal Documents
There are a number of different forms and documents to be produced for both Court Proceedings and in formal Disciplinary and Grievance processes. Again you may be highly competant in report writing, form fillling etc or may struggle with such matters, either way having an impartial and knowledgeable person to support you with such processes is invaluable. What may seem logical, common sense and appropriate to record and place as evidence may not be considered such by a Court or other Hearing and could potentilally jepordise your case through either the information not being appropriately recorded or recorded in such a way as to be misinterpreted.
